Hello! I suppose you’d like to know more about me. I’ll do my best!
I was born in Maryland in 1988, but moved back to Indiana where my family is from shortly thereafter. My elementary years were spent there, and when I was nearly 13, my family and I moved out to Tucson, Arizona.
Having graduated high school in 2007, I worked a lot of retail Jobs and moved back to Indiana to live with family for a year somewhere during that time. Eventually, I had an old friend get into the industry and start his apprenticeship. Of course, I was super interested that he was beginning his artistic career! Eventually, there was an opening and I began my apprenticeship in October of 2010.
I was trained to be a realism and black and grey portrait artist, but I learned to be adaptable. I learned from the more experienced artists around me and tried out many different styles. Eventually, circumstances led to me trying out watercolor style tattooing and I loved it!
I love how we can “break the rules” so to speak. I love how I can use realistic elements within some of my pieces and completely leave realism altogether in others. Watercolor can be so many things such as dynamic, chaotic, whimsical, serene, somber, elegant and so much more!
I also love how we can combine the structure of linework with the “rulebreaking” of the watercolor, I absolutely love combining full color galaxywork with splashy or drippy watercolor elements. Brushstrokes within a piece can create flow and abstract designs can have a huge dramatic effect. I also love how black and grey watercolor can be spooky and ominous or somber and elegant. The versatility of the style is what keeps me engaged and loving what I do!
